Small & friendly, apartments, pool & superb food. Fab! Clients loveVilla Alfredo’s atmosphere, its location in “the heart of Baroque ” and the wonderful owners.

Close to picturesque Comiso, and half an hour from some of Sicily’s most beautiful sandy beaches, Villa Alfredo is a grand farm estate. It’s a really good base for easy days out to discover “real ” Sicily. The lovely historical town of Comiso is only 8km away, and the incredible Baroque towns of Sicily’s south-east corner, and yet more fantastic beaches, are within striking distance. One of our favourite towns in Sicily, Caltagirone, is only about 24km and, famous for ceramics, it is exactly as one might imagine a Sicilian town should be, almost as if it has leapt out of a film.

Run by the lovely owners, Alfredo, his brother Giuseppe and their families, and managed by the lovely Anna, Villa Alfredo is a wonderful place, which exudes character. There is an old olive press, a fine example of a traditionally decorated cart and a little church. This whole masseria is steeped in history.

Villa Alfredo’s agritourist apartments are in converted farm-workers’ houses, off the courtyard. They are Sicilian and rustic, tasteful, and with fairly simple kitchen areas. Most have a terrace, some leading on to the garden, near the pool, which is in a lovely walled garden, with seats dotted about, under trees. There is a cultivated area, where guests are welcome to pick vegetables or fruit in season. You can also collect fresh eggs for breakfast on occasions! Just watch the wide beam on your children’s faces as you do.

Also very much family-run, Villa Alfredo’s restaurant feels special and intimate, as they cater only for guests of the apartments. In summer, diners eat on the charming terrace, al fresco. The family is passionate about Sicilian cuisine and the excellent, home-cooked, traditional food is delicious. Past clients have also really enjoyed the cookery courses, which are great fun.

Villa Alfredo is a fantastic agriturismo, in every sense of the word.

Review

“Villa Alfredo was very clean and comfortable and the food prepared by Anna was excellent – good, honest, fresh and so well cooked! It was such a treat to have wonderful food after a day sightseeing.” Christina & Ian, Newport Bagnell

“The food cooked by Anna was superb and offered outstanding value for money. We ate at the villa 9 out of 14 nights.” Charles, Shrewsbury

“…Exactly what we hoped for – we had the best time! The family there were lovely and the food spectacular. THANK YOU! ” Melanie, Perry, India & Jessica, Caversham

“We were warmly welcomed by Anna.  We had Rose Cottage – beautiful, just what we were after, clean, comfortable.  We loved having a front door on to the courtyard and then a back door out on to our own bit of garden with table and chairs.  We appreciated being left to come and go exactly as we pleased.  However, we also very much appreciated the availability of dinner.  Anna cooked for us three times.  We are vegetarians, which can sometimes be tricky, but here there was absolutely no problem.  Anna cooked three gorgeous meals for us. It would be great if you could pass on to her how much we enjoyed the food and the fact that what we could and could not eat was never an issue.  The pool was great too. We really loved it here!” Rebecca & Dirk, Idlicote

“It was wonderful to be able to help ourselves to fresh chickens’ eggs and to fruit from the trees – mulberries, apricots and peaches were ripe when we were there. We had a really great holiday. ” Jenny, London

Helen Beatty wrote for Homes & Holidays, “Get a laid-back taste of Sicily when you stay on a farm – the Italians call it “agriturismo “. Try self-catering at the turreted Villa Alfredo, owned by an award-winning olive oil producer; where around the cobbled courtyard, old workers’ cottages have been converted into small flats. Here you can collect fresh eggs and vegetables from the garden every morning, swim in the pool in the evening and watch the sun go down over the olive groves.”

“Mum & I had an amazing holiday at Villa Alfredo. The place was really lovely and we had a relaxing time. The meals were very very tasty and the effort made for mum’s special birthday meal was great.” Fiona, Uckfield
